Welcome to the Stillbirth Foundation Australia website and thank you for your interest in the stillbirth cause.

The Stillbirth Foundation works to reduce the incidence of stillbirth in Australia.

To achieve this goal, the Stillbirth Foundation operates with the aims to:
  1. fund and encourage research into stillbirth; and
  2. increase public awareness about stillbirth.
If you are a parent, family member or friend, whose baby has died, we offer you our deepest sympathy at this very sad time. Whilst the Stillbirth Foundation does not offer direct bereavement support, we hope that the information you find in this website will provide you with some comfort that something is being done to address the terrible tragedy that is stillbirth.

New Research Finds One Third of Stillbirths are Preventable

The Stillbirth Foundation is pleased to be able to share the news that the Literature Review Project, lead by Australian and New Zealand Stillbirth Alliance Researcher, Vicki Flenady, has released some of its findings about modifiable risk factors. It's exciting that a relatively small spend of our funds is already producing results and scientists are ready, willing and able to conduct research. Thank you to our donors and supporters who have enabled the Stillbirth Foundation to fund this project.

Talking about stillbirth: a male perspective

University of Newcastle (NSW) Honours student researcher, Shari Bonnette, has recognised there is little research available that explores men's perspectives of stillbirth. To address this she is currently undertaking social research on men's experience of stillbirth, with a focus specifically on grief, identity and support networks.

To participate in this research project you must be male, aged over 18 years, and whose female partner has experienced stillbirth between 6 months and 3 years ago.
