Sydney stockbroker, Tom Schoenmaker, has taken up the challenge of riding a push bike 1000km around Taiwan in 8 days from Friday 15th February 2008 to raise money for the Stillbirth Foundation, a charity he has supported in the past.
Schoenmaker has selected this as a challenging goal to do some good for himself by improving his fitness whilst raising money for a worthy cause. He will ride with a friend through Eastern Taiwan which is the wildest and least populated area of the island, with dense forests lining a rugged, rocky coastline of crashing surf and plunging cliffs, whilst white water rivers carve their way inland through spectacular gorges. East Taiwan offers the best road riding in Taiwan away from the heavily industrialised and smog congested cities on the west coast.
This is a spectacular challenge that Schoenmaker has undertaken and you are welcome to support and encourage him in this adventure through making a tax deductible on-line donation by following this link.
“Many friends have said I won’t be able to do it so that has spurred me on” says Schoenmaker, “but I am prepared to put my money where my mouth is and for whatever reason I do not start or finish the tour I will donate $2000 myself.” I look forward to keeping you up to date with this latest Stillbirth Foundation adventure and wish Thomas all the very best as he prepares for the trip!
