Links

Much information about stillbirth is available via the internet. This short list of links to related bodies may help you in your navigation:

  • Teddy Love Club is a voluntary organisation run by parents that works to provide a teddy bear to newly bereaved parents before they have to walk out of hospital with empty arms following the death of their baby. You may wish to purchase a Stella the Stillbirth Foundation Bear (see the Donate section on our website) to give to the Teddy Love Club.
  • The Australian Charity of Child Photographers is a volunteer organisation of child photographers from all over Australia who provide complimentary individual or family portrait sessions for stillborn babies, premature and ill infants and children in neonatal intensive care units of their local hospitals, as well as children with serious and terminal illnesses.
  • Pregnancy After Loss antenatal support and education group is designed for pregnant parents who have previously lost a baby as a result of stillbirth or death in the newborn period. The group meets in Sydney over several months with a combination of day and evening sessions at no cost. The group is facilitated by Belinda Power, a women's health social worker, and Deborah de Wilde, a midwife and social worker.
  • OzMOST - Aussie mums of surviving (twinless) twins produces Multiple Care Bereavement Booklets and offers friendship, understanding and mutual support when a baby loses their multiple birth sibling/s during pregnancy, at birth or in infancy, and is raised as a "singleton".
  • National Premmie Foundation is a parent body that guides and assists premature baby support groups throughout Australia, providing support groups for families whose baby has been born prematurely and raising funds for research.
  • Stillbirth Support is an Australian based research site that lists some possible causes and general information about stillbirth and seeks to recruit people for on-line based stillbirth research.
  • Baby Kick Alliance, a US-based organisation, is an advocate for kick counting or foetal movement monitoring during pregnancy.
  • Perinatal Society of Australia and New Zealand acknowledged the importance of developing a systematic approach to the audit and review of perinatal deaths in Australia and New Zealand and thus endorsed the establishment of a special interest group for Perinatal Mortality.
  • International Stillbirth Alliance is a forum for international collaboration for better understanding and prevention of stillbirths. ISA and its member organisations share this one philosophy, and the Stillbirth Foundation is proud to be an ISA member.

The Stillbirth Foundation does not offer direct bereavement support to families whose baby has died, as other organisations in Australia already offer this service. If you wish to talk with someone following the death of your baby, please contact:

  • SANDS Australia is an Australian National Association of SANDS organisations supporting families who experience miscarriage, stillbirth, neonatal and infant death.
  • SIDS and Kids Australia provides local support to bereaved families who experience pregnancy loss or whose baby has died in infancy or during their childhood.
