On Jeannie's 40th birthday, she has much to be proud of and more to look forward to. Having built a successful career, she and husband Mark are finally ready ot start the family they have been planning for years. After a few false starts, the baby they have dreamed of will soon be a reality... or will it?

What is simple for some proves much harder for others. Their unexpected journey forces them to question long held views, drawing in family and friends, who all have the own opinions.

Water Child, a new Australian play by award winning actress Emma Wood, chronicles the struggles of one couple's deepest desire to be parents, exploring what it means to be a family, when "having it all" is touted as de rigeur for the professional couple of the 21st century. 

Water Child will premiere at Newcastle Theatre Company form 3rd to 17th March 2012. Performances will be staged Wednesday, Friday and Saturdays at 8pm, with matinees on Sunday 4th and Saturday 10th March at 2pm.
